I want my $200 back

Thursday, September 6th, 2007

So Apple announced a $200 rollback on iPhone prices…. TWO DAYS after my return policy expired. I am so livid; more than I’ve ever been at a technology company (even Microsoft). I pay $599 for an iPhone a couple weeks ago, and then they announce a 33% reduction in price. I won’t say I’ll never buy anything from Apple again, because I *certainly* will. No doubt. Their stuff is the best, the one, the only… which makes this a million times worse for me. Please Apple, don’t let us, your die hard fans and best evangelists start to hate you… send us gift cards, iTunes songs… anything. If you dropped the price $20 a month for 10 months, fine. But this, this is purely a slap in the face.

UPDATE: I feel slightly better after learning that I’ll get a $100 credit to the Apple Store. I mean, yeah, I’d rather have cash, and I’d rather get all $200 back than just $100 of it. But it’s better than nothing.

The Seattle Post Intelligencer posted an interesting experimental article in January that compared keynote texts given by Apple’s Steve Jobs, Microsoft’s Bill Gates, and Dell’s Michael Dell using keyword clouds. I know I’m a bit behind the times, but the keyword results and lengthy discussion were interesting.

If you scan over each keyword cloud, each speech evokes a different “personality”. While each speech was written for a different audience, you can’t help but notice the branding through repetition.

The popular Tag Cloud site is “getting an overhaul”, but here’s another tag-cloud generator I found while surfing. Go ahead, see what your keyword frequencies are in your web page, term paper, or presidential address.

Do you have a Mac? Do you use iTunes? Does it frustrate you that Apple has chosen to make it a dumbed down music manager that lacks some truly useful features? Me too!

Check out Doug’s AppleScripts for iTunes. Doug has collected a truly great collection of script that are free to download, easy to install, and add new features to iTunes. More iTunes tips after the jump.

Do you use that remote that came with your Macbook Pro?

Might be time for a replacement…

If I did more presentations, or had a reason to use mac’s “front row” tool more I would definetely scrap my apple issued remote and get one of these. Maybe when I get my Apple TV

SiK Remote

Post-worthy simply because its a great design – why didn’t apple think of this?
