3 Ways to Go Green for Earth Day
April 19th, 2007 : Carrie Downing
April 22nd marks the 35th Anniversary of Earth Day. Raise your awareness and Get Your Green On:
#1) Calculate your ecological footprint at Earth Day Network to find out how many planets it would take to sustain 6.5 billion clones of yourself.
Apparently I’m not doing so well:
IF EVERYONE LIVED LIKE YOU, WE WOULD NEED 4.1 PLANETS.

#2) Learn about sustainability initiatives in the IT industry at the Green Grid:
“The Need for Datacenters to Go Green
Until recently, electiricy usage wasn’t a major IT concern. In fact, the electricity costs for running and cooling computers generally wasn’t even considered part of the IT budget. #3) Stay current with green tech news and updates at the Green Technology Blog, like David Filo’s comments on Yahoo’s efforts to achieve carbon neutrality.

3 + planets for me - it makes you think, great post.
We could improve some of the recycling in the office. We attempt to do it but could be better. Thoughts?

3 for me too. We have a tradition of cleaning up our neighborhood on Earth Day. Anyone interested in helping us clean up around Franklin/Nicollet?
Does anyone know what company picks up the trash? We should get a quote from that company. Otherwise there’s a list at http://greenguardian.com/business/rwmg_pickup.asp?printPage=true.

Just over two planets for me.
As for the office, I think setting up a better recycling center and making sure that everyone sorts his or her trash would be a small thing we could do to make a difference.
Would it be possible for us to go even more paperless? We throw away SO much paper.
